NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique held a meeting with Joint CP Gautam Lakhmi to discuss the status of the chargesheet in the ongoing investigation into Baba Siddique's murder case.
NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique recently held a meeting with Joint CP of Mumbai Police, Gautam Lakhmi, to discuss the filed chargesheet in the murder case of fellow NCP leader Baba Siddique. Following the meeting, Siddique disclosed that the police had refrained from sharing the chargesheet with them, prompting him to seek legal recourse by appealing to the court. He emphasized that his prime concern was the lack of interrogation of specific individuals he had identified in his earlier statements.
During the discussion, Siddique expressed his disappointment regarding the police's stance. "The authorities conveyed that they are unable to provide us with the chargesheet. Thus, we have turned to the court for assistance. My meeting with Joint Commissioner Gautam Lakhmi aimed to gather information on our complaint's status, particularly concerning whether the individuals we suspect have been interrogated. Regrettably, I have learned that these individuals have yet to be questioned," he stated.
Siddique also voiced his apprehensions about the alleged protection afforded to certain builders linked to the case. He raised a critical point about the rapid development of a narrative that attributed the blame solely to Lawrence Bishnoi. "I remain optimistic that when I consult with CM Devendra Fadnavis, who shares a friendship with my father, he will inquire about this situation with the police. The question persists: why are these builders being shielded? Almost instantly after my father's tragic shooting, there was an established narrative implicating Bishnoi. If that is indeed the case, then he should be brought to Mumbai for questioning," he remarked. Additionally, he mentioned his intention to speak with Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, followed by a meeting with his legal team to consider how to contest the investigation's findings.
Baba Siddique was shot on October 12 by three individuals near his son MLA Zeeshan Siddique's office located in Nirmal Nagar, Mumbai. Following this tragic event, law enforcement has apprehended two suspects, Salman Vohra and Akashdeep Singh, who are believed to be directly involved in the murder. Reports indicate that Vohra has been implicated as a financier of the crime.
According to insights provided by a senior official from the Mumbai Crime Branch, there have been indications that another prominent political figure from Pune has also come under the scrutiny of the Bishnoi gang following the assassination of Baba Siddique. This revelation adds an additional layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation and raises further concerns about the extent of the threats posed by criminal elements in the region.
