The court granted bail to Darshan, his friend Pavithra Gowda, and seven additional individuals still incarcerated in connection with the ongoing case. This decision marks a significant development in the legal proceedings surrounding them.
Bengaluru witnessed a significant legal development on Friday, as the Karnataka High Court decided to grant bail to the well-known Kannada film star, Darshan Thoogudeepa, in connection with the high-profile murder case involving Renukaswamy. Alongside Darshan, the court also approved bail for his companion, Pavithra Gowda, as well as seven other individuals who are currently still in custody related to this case.
The actor found himself in legal trouble when he was apprehended on June 11 of this year, following allegations of his involvement in the murder of Renukaswamy, a fan who was claimed to have sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda. This incident allegedly took place on June 8, shortly before the actor's arrest.
Initially, Darshan was held at the Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bengaluru. However, following a controversy that erupted when a photograph surfaced showing him in a relaxed state with fellow inmates, he was later transferred to Ballari Central Jail for security reasons. Compounding his legal troubles, the actor is currently hospitalized due to persistent back pain.
The grim discovery of Renukaswamy’s body, a 33-year-old man, was made on June 9, as it was located near a drain in Sumanahalli, Bengaluru. The body showed signs of multiple injuries, prompting a swift investigation. It was revealed that Renukaswamy had been reportedly kidnapped from Chitradurga and had undergone severe torture prior to his death.
As the investigation unfolded, four individuals eventually turned themselves into the authorities, confessing to the murder, which they attributed to a financial disagreement. However, discrepancies in their accounts raised suspicions among investigators, suggesting that there was a more extensive conspiracy at play.
As a result of the ongoing probe, actor Darshan, along with Pavithra Gowda and a total of 15 other individuals, were implicated in the case. The police arrested Darshan on June 11, 2024, while he was in Mysuru, subsequently bringing him back to Bengaluru for further questioning.
By June 16, law enforcement had apprehended all suspects involved, who were then presented to the court. This sequence of events has captivated public interest and raised numerous questions regarding the circumstances surrounding the murder and the connections between the individuals involved.
The court's decision to grant bail has sparked conversations within the entertainment industry and among fans alike, as many are closely monitoring how this case will evolve in the coming days. With both celebrity status and serious legal implications intertwined, the developments in this case are sure to remain a focal point of discussion.
