Karnataka minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar has alleged that Ravi directed disrespectful remarks towards her, sparking a controversy over language and decorum in political discourse. This incident has raised concerns about gender sensitivity in the political arena.
Swarthak Surya, the offspring of BJP leader CT Ravi, has expressed steadfast confidence in his father's integrity amid ongoing allegations related to derogatory remarks. Surya firmly stated that his father would never resort to such language, especially against women, emphasizing Ravi's respectful demeanor towards everyone.
Speaking from Davanagere, where Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra was present with CT Ravi and other party officials during a press event, Surya revealed his astonishment regarding the accusations directed at his father. According to him, Ravi has consistently shown reverence to individuals regardless of their age or gender, which reinforces his unwavering belief in his father's character.
In an interview with ANI following his father's release on bail, Surya described the past 24 hours as emotionally tumultuous for the family. He articulated his concerns, particularly when he witnessed his father's arrest, which he found bewildering, especially given that Ravi had sustained a head injury.
Surya shared, "When I first heard the allegations, I was in disbelief. I know my father would never speak in a disrespectful manner to anyone, let alone women. He treats each person with honor. I have never doubted his integrity." When his father was granted bail, it lifted a significant weight off the family's shoulders, bringing them relief after a distressing situation.
Speaking about the context of the incident, Karnataka minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar had accused CT Ravi of making inappropriate remarks towards her. Ravi, however, declared the allegations to be unfounded and voiced his grievances about the treatment he received during the legal proceedings. He described his experience of being treated like a terrorist, despite lacking any substantial evidence supporting the case against him.
Ravi noted, "Our custodian was a Chairman who clearly stated that a false case was brought against me. They need to reflect on their actions. It's been challenging for me as I struggled to eat properly after last night." He characterized the High Court's ruling in his favor as a victory for the truth and a clear reminder for everyone to adhere to the law.
Earlier that day, Hebbalkar shared her distress regarding the comments made by Ravi during a heated exchange. She recounted an incident where Ravi allegedly referred to Rahul Gandhi as a drug addict, to which Hebbalkar retorted, questioning whether past accidents equated to being a murderer. This interaction, she claims, led to further derogatory remarks directed towards her from Ravi.
Hebbalkar expressed her concern, stating, "I am a mother, and people look up to me. I aspire to inspire many to pursue politics." Her remarks highlight the broader implications of how political dialogues can affect individuals and the image they project within society.
