This tragic incident saw the identification of the 33-year-old woman, Zhuojun "Sally" Li, confirmed by detectives last Saturday. In the same breath, they announced their search for her spouse, Jai-Bao "Rex" Chen, who is also 33 years old. Ms. Li had been reported missing earlier in the month, prompting police action.

On Tuesday afternoon, police located a second body in the same vicinity. Superintendent Danny Doherty addressed the media, indicating a "strong likelihood" that this body belongs to Mr. Chen. He characterized the circumstances surrounding both deaths as a "targeted double murder," asserting that at least two individuals implicated in this case had likely fled the country.

"As previously indicated, we suspected the involvement of a third party, which has now been substantiated," Superintendent Doherty remarked during the press briefing. Subsequent to these findings, authorities have reached out to counterparts in China and Taiwan to assist in the investigation.

The investigation took a crucial turn when it was revealed that Mr. Chen's phone was reportedly detected in Queensland, pointing to the strong possibility that it was handled by the individuals who had departed the country. Detectives from the Homicide Squad, with support from Queensland Police, managed to locate this phone, which could provide essential leads.

During the press conference, Superintendent Doherty elaborated that one potential motive behind the tragic events could stem from financial debts. He acknowledged, "They owed money," hinting at the possibility that financial obligations might have played a significant role in the unfolding of events leading to the murder.

The investigation team is considering the theory that the alleged offense transpired within the confines of the couple's home in Greenacre before the victims were transported to Botany in a Toyota Avensis, a vehicle that has since become a focal point for forensic examination.

Superintendent Doherty asserted, "The location of where the alleged murder would have occurred is believed to be at the Greenacre address. This remains a strong hypothesis for our ongoing investigation." Efforts are underway to thoroughly analyze the Toyota Avensis for any evidence that could shed light on the case.

Additionally, police have been in contact with Mr. Chen's family in Taiwan to keep them apprised of the latest developments as the investigation progresses. Both Ms. Li and Mr. Chen had not been seen since late November, raising alarm since Ms. Li was reported missing after her mother failed to make contact.

In response to this distressing situation, the State Crime Command established Strike Force Zygon, tasked with conducting a meticulous investigation into the circumstances of this double murder. As the investigation unfolds, authorities remain committed to uncovering the truth behind this tragic event and holding those responsible accountable.
