Docklands, Melbourne — Starting this Sunday, residents of all ages are invited to participate in a new initiative offering free yoga and acting classes at the Docklands Hub, from 9 AM to 12 O’ clock every week. This program, a collaborative effort between Saras.Care, D-Zone, and the City of Melbourne, aims to promote community well-being, fitness, and creative expression.
The initiative brings together three local organizations committed to enhancing the quality of life for Melbourne residents. Saras.Care, known for its dedication to supporting individuals with disabilities and fostering independence, partners with D-Zone, which offers community engagement and skill-building opportunities, and the City of Melbourne, which has provided the hub and infrastructure for this exciting new series of classes.
Free Yoga for All: A Path to Balance and Wellness
One of the central offerings of the new program is yoga, taught by certified instructors from Dhyan Foundation. This yoga practice, based on the ancient techniques of Sanatan Kriya, combines elements of Ashtang Yog to balance mind, body, and spirit. Since 2023, Dhyan Foundation has been offering free Sanatan Kriya classes in various locations across Victoria, including Seabrooke Community, Altona Meadows library , Melville forest community hall and The hub at Dockland.
Sanatan Kriya, designed by spiritual guide Ashwini Guruji, is a holistic practice that integrates meditation, yoga, mantras, and breathwork. It aims to harmonize the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of life, helping practitioners find a deeper sense of purpose and tranquility. "Sanatan Kriya is the essence of creation, of which life is a part," says Guruji of Dhyan Ashram. The classes at Docklands will be open to people of all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners.
Acting Classes for Creative Expression
In addition to yoga, the program will offer free acting workshops, where participants can explore their creativity, enhance their communication skills, and build confidence. These sessions, provided by D-Zone, are designed for individuals of all ages, offering a unique space for self-expression through the performing arts. Whether you are a seasoned actor or someone new to the craft, the acting workshops promise to provide valuable skills that can enrich personal and professional life.
Saras.Care: Empowering the Community
Saras.Care has been a pillar of support for individuals seeking resources and opportunities for independence. In line with their mission to empower people, the free classes will offer participants not just physical activity, but also emotional and mental well-being, fostering a sense of community and togetherness. "Beyond immediate needs, we aim to build a foundation for a brighter future through education, job training, and community initiatives," said a representative from Saras.Care.
City of Melbourne's Commitment to Health and Fitness
