Shooting Shocker: Arrest Made and Vehicle Seized in Deadly Western Sydney Incident

According to detectives, the victim had just departed from his family residence and entered his car when he was confronted by an unidentified assailant. The perpetrator discharged multiple rounds through the window on the driver’s side.

The victim attempted to escape by exiting through the passenger side but unfortunately collapsed on the lawn of a neighboring property. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.

In a related incident, authorities are investigating a vehicle that was set ablaze shortly after the shooting occurred, which they suspect is connected to the incident in Canley Heights, located just north of Cabramatta on December 29, 2024.

Investigators believe the assailant fled the crime scene in a white Audi, which was later discovered abandoned and engulfed in flames on Bathurst Street in Wakeley. Fire and Rescue NSW responded quickly to extinguish the blaze upon their arrival.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of additional injuries linked to the incident. Today, police confirmed the apprehension of a 33-year-old man in Bossley Park. Authorities also seized a grey Jeep Cherokee, which they suspect was a secondary vehicle utilized during the shooting.

Superintendent Danny Doherty elaborated that the 31-year-old victim had associations with organized crime, specifically with Asian criminal networks. He characterized the attack as “brazen” and underscored that it was not a random act of violence.

The Superintendent pointed out the stark reality associated with involvement in organized crime, stating, “There are consequences of being involved in organized crime networks. And we see it over and over again; they end up dead on the streets of Sydney.”
