In light of these hostilities, the European Union's chief diplomat has called for intensified pressure on both Israel and Hezbollah to negotiate a ceasefire agreement, asserting that a deal is imminent pending final approval from the Israeli government. He emphasized that the only viable pathway forward involves an immediate cessation of hostilities and adherence to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which contributed to halting the 2006 war.

Following discussions with Lebanese officials, the EU representative announced a readiness to allocate €200 million (approximately $208 million) to aid the Lebanese military, which could enhance operations in southern Lebanon.
