PM Modi decries Congress-National Conference's push for Article 370 restoration, claiming it's a threat to Jammu and Kashmir's stability and undermines Ambedkar's Constitution.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday strongly criticized the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance following the Jammu and Kashmir assembly’s resolution to restore Article 370. Addressing a gathering in Maharashtra’s Dhule, PM Modi called the resolution a “conspiracy against Kashmir” by the opposition.
On Wednesday, the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly passed a resolution by voice vote, calling for the reinstatement of Article 370. BJP MLAs opposed the resolution and were reportedly ejected from the assembly for their protests.
PM Modi alleged that Congress and its allies are attempting to remove the Constitution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar from Jammu and Kashmir. He accused the alliance of working against the interests of Dalits, backward classes, and tribals by pushing for Article 370’s restoration.
Declaring that the country would not accept the resolution, PM Modi emphasized, “Till Modi is there, Congress won’t be able to do anything in Kashmir. Only Bhim Rao Ambedkar's Constitution will run there. No power can bring back 370.”
The National Conference highlighted the restoration of Article 370 and Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood as central promises in its assembly election manifesto. This commitment has been met with strong opposition from the BJP.
Reaffirming his stance, PM Modi stated, “By abrogating Article 370, I implemented the constitution of Dr. Ambedkar in Kashmir. This was my biggest tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar.” His remarks underscored his commitment to maintaining the constitutional status quo in Jammu and Kashmir.
