The assassination of Baba Siddique reveals a detailed plot involving shooters from Uttar Pradesh. Discover how the attack was orchestrated with shocking revelations from the police investigation.
The shocking assassination of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique has exposed a meticulously planned conspiracy, initiated over 100 kilometers away in Pune, months before the attack. Police investigations have revealed that the shooters were enticed with monetary incentives and received advance payments for the crime. They were allegedly paid ₹50,000 and provided a flex banner featuring Baba Siddique's photograph to identify their target.
On October 12, Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son’s office in Mumbai. The crime involved three shooters, Gurmel Baljit Singh, Dharmaraj Kashyap, and Shivkumar Gautam, all from Uttar Pradesh. While two suspects have been arrested, one remains at large.
Recent developments in the case came to light with the arrest of Pravin Lonkar, an alleged co-conspirator. Investigators have gathered fresh details indicating how the assassination plot was planned through multiple meetings. The motive behind the murder remains unclear but is expected to be revealed upon further arrests.
The investigation has focused on Pune-based individuals, particularly Pravin and his brother, Shubham Lonkar, as central figures in executing the crime. The brothers allegedly financed the operation, coordinated logistics, and held meetings that led to the attack. Police are also working to apprehend other suspects to uncover the full scope of the conspiracy.
According to NDTV, the shooters reportedly have links to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently jailed in Sabarmati. Bishnoi has previously been connected to an attack on Bollywood star Salman Khan, an associate of Baba Siddique.
The Lonkar brothers allegedly played a critical role in recruiting the shooters and arranging the logistics. Pravin Lonkar has been identified as a key co-conspirator, while the police are searching for Mohammad Yasin Akhtar, the suspected handler, and shooter Gautam, who is believed to have fired the fatal shots.
The plot came together when Gautam contacted Kashyap three months before the murder. Gautam then moved to the Vinoba Bhave Nagar area in Kurla, Mumbai, where he rented accommodation and brought Singh into the fold. The shooters closely monitored Siddique's movements and regularly visited areas frequented by Siddique and his son.
During the assassination, Gautam fired at Siddique, while Kashyap and Singh assisted in the attack. Kashyap also used pepper spray on Siddique after the shooting. Although Kashyap and Singh were apprehended at the scene, Gautam managed to escape.
Following the attack, Shubham Lonkar allegedly claimed responsibility for the assassination on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang through a Facebook post, which has since been deleted. Authorities are now working with social media platforms to trace the origins of this post.
In addition, the police have seized two pistols, 28 live rounds, and four mobile phones from the suspects. These items are being scrutinized for further insights into the extent of the conspiracy.
The crime branch is continuing to investigate the individuals associated with the Lonkar brothers and their links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Meanwhile, a request for the custody of Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with an earlier case has been submitted to the Home Department.
The investigation remains ongoing as the authorities work to apprehend all suspects involved in the assassination plot.
