A 32-year-old man from Saint James has been accused of committing a violent carjacking, during which he allegedly assaulted an 89-year-old man. The elderly victim, referred to as Ken, was attacked outside his home in Armadale shortly after returning from lunch with his wife. The assault took place around 2:35 PM on a Tuesday afternoon.
Upon arriving at his residence, Ken was approached by the suspect, who forcibly removed him from his vehicle. Ken recounted the harrowing experience, stating, "I fought with him there, opened the door three or four times to try and get him out, but my strength of trying to move someone half my age was pretty hard."
As a result of the attack, Ken suffered injuries including a bruised hip and grazed wrist, necessitating a visit to the hospital for treatment. His wife is reportedly struggling with anxiety and fear following the incident, unable to feel safe in their home.
The man accused of this crime has been brought before the court where he was denied bail. The details of the case have raised serious concerns about the safety of elderly individuals in the community.
The event has sparked widespread outrage and concern among residents, many of whom are now questioning the safety measures in place to protect vulnerable members of society. As authorities investigate further, the local community remains on high alert.

Ken's story illustrates not only the physical repercussions of such violence but the emotional toll it can take on individuals and families alike.
