The Allan Labor Government is expanding public transport in Melbourne’s growing west, delivering a new route that connects Eynesbury and Weir Views with Melton Station.
Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams today announced the new Route 452 will operate seven days a week – giving residents in these growing suburbs a direct public transport connection to Melton station for the first time.
The service is set to begin on Sunday, 8 December and will provide passengers greater access to trains, other bus services, as well as key destinations like Opalia Plaza Shopping Centre and Ballarat – it will also run along Exford Road which is close to a number of local schools including Staughton College.
On weekdays the new route will operate from 5:00am through to 10:00pm, with buses every 15 to 30 mins during busy periods, and up to 40 mins at other times. On weekends the service will operate a 60-minute frequency from 6:30am to around 10:00pm.
Residents of Weir Views will benefit from having a fixed bus route option as well as the current FlexiRide service.
The new services are part of the Labor Government’s election promise to deliver improvements to the school bus network in the west, with better services introduced for Aintree, Thornhill Park and Rockbank students.
Launched in June 2021, Victoria’s Bus Plan has already improved bus services in more than half of the state’s 79 local government areas through the introduction of more than 200 new or improved bus routes delivering better coverage and service coordination.
