Janhvi Kapoor Discusses Paparazzi Culture and Its Effects In a recent conversation about the paparazzi culture, Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor shared her experiences regarding how female actors are frequently photographed from behind
In a recent conversation about the paparazzi culture, Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor shared her experiences regarding how female actors are frequently photographed from behind, often accompanied by captions like, "Guess who is this actor?" Kapoor, who is currently engaged in promoting her upcoming film Ulajh, addressed her concerns during an interview on the latest episode of The Male Feminist for Hauterrfly. She revealed that following her request to avoid such practices during the promotion of her previous film Mr and Mrs Mahi, the paparazzi have ceased taking pictures from behind.
Janhvi Kapoor talked openly about the issue, explaining: “I think I said something while promoting Mahi, ‘Please galat angle se mat lena,’ and since then they have been like, ‘Nahi, nahi hum peeche se nahi lenge! Are mudo mudo (No, we will not click from behind. Turn around)!’ Even if it is a demonstration, I really appreciate it.” Kapoor criticized the practice of posting back shots with clickbait captions and emphasized that while it may attract attention, it is not justified. “I can say that I don't like how I am being shown in this. I am not comfortable with people seeing this much of me that way. They are compelled to listen to me because this is my decision and my choice,” she added.
Kapoor admitted that her approach to addressing such issues has evolved over time. She reflected, “Aur maine bola bhi kaise (And how did I say that)… this is also a trope that I feel a lot of women use, that I have used a lot. That I don't want to be putting off in my opinion. I want to bahur pyaar se, buddhu ban ke bas bolna chahti hoon (I want to state my point with love and casually) because that is more palatable.”
Fans of Janhvi Kapoor will soon see her in the eagerly awaited film Ulajh, where she stars as Suhana Bhatia, a young diplomat entangled in a complex web of intrigue and conspiracy. Directed by Sudhanshu Saria, Ulajh also features Adil Hussain, Meiyang Chang, Gulshan Devaiah, Roshan Mathew, Rajendra Gupta, and Jitendra Joshi. The film is slated for release on August 2. Kapoor’s latest web series and other entertainment updates are also highly anticipated by fans.
