Adhyayan Suman has received widespread acclaim for his role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar" on Netflix. With the show being renewed for a second season, the actors are actively promoting it. In a recent interview, Adhyayan addressed the criticism directed at Sharmin Segal for her performance in "Heeramandi" and offered a significant piece of advice to her.
"I believe it's crucial not to live in a bubble and to face reality, regardless of the project. It's important to know oneself and have the resilience to endure for the long term. Honesty with oneself is key," stated the actor known for "Raaz 2."
Adhyayan further mentioned that when facing criticism, he engages with the audience. "Viewers are generally understanding; if they see your effort, they are likely to give you another chance," he added. Sharmin portrays the character of Alamzeb, the youngest daughter of courtesan Mallika Jaan, played by Manisha Koirala, in the series.
Regarding Sharmin's performance, social media users have criticized her acting skills, leading to trolls and negativity. Despite support from her co-stars, she opted to disable comments on her Instagram account. Adhyayan, on the other hand, plays Nawab Zorawar and young Nawab Zulfiqar in "Heeramandi," where his father Shekhar Suman portrays the older Nawab Zulfiqar.
"Heeramandi" is named after the red-light district in Lahore during the pre-partition era, focusing on power struggles among courtiers, nawabs, and British officers in the 1920-1940s. The series unfolds against the backdrop of India's fight for independence against British rule and can be streamed on Netflix, with a confirmed second season.
