The West Bengal Junior Doctors Front will resume emergency services on Saturday after ending their strike. However, OPD services will remain suspended for the time being.
The junior doctors were protesting against the rape and murder of a second-year postgraduate medical student at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The breakthrough came after a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, where most of their demands were accepted, except for the removal of the principal secretary.
Despite calling off the strike, the doctors stated that their fight for justice is not over. They plan to continue their agitation in a new form, demanding the removal of the principal secretary and action against the "threat culture."
While emergency services will resume, OPD and OT services will remain suspended until better security measures for female staff are implemented.
The junior doctors plan to hold a rally from Swasthya Bhawan to the CGO Complex to further their demands and ensure justice for the victim.
The doctors emphasized that their priority is justice for Abhaya, and they are closely monitoring the Supreme Court hearing and government actions.
