During his address at the Nassau Coliseum in New York, PM Modi emphasized unity, pride, and optimism. He praised the diaspora's role in strengthening US-India relations and described them as "Rashtradoot" (ambassadors of the nation). He acknowledged their cultural contributions and their efforts in connecting India with America and vice versa.
PM Modi introduced the concept of 'PUSHP' to the audience, describing its five petals as symbols of a developed India. He explained 'P' stands for Progressive Bharat, 'U' for Unstoppable Bharat, 'S' for Spiritual Bharat, 'H' for Humanity First, and 'P' for Prosperous Bharat. This vision, he stated, would lead to a Viksit Bharat (developed India).
Reflecting on his meeting with US President Joe Biden, PM Modi shared the significance of the invitation to Biden’s home as a gesture of honor for the 140 crore Indians he represents. He highlighted the importance of 2024, a year marked by both global conflict and the celebration of democracy, with India and the US leading the way in promoting democratic values.
PM Modi spoke about the recent elections in India, noting them as the largest in human history, with almost double the number of voters compared to the total population of the US. He expressed pride in the scale and success of Indian democracy.
Highlighting India's recent accomplishments, PM Modi pointed out the country’s growth in various sectors. He emphasized the role of women in development, the technological advancements in 5G and 6G, and India’s transformation into a land of opportunities. He assured the audience of India’s progress towards becoming a global technological hub.
In anticipation of PM Modi’s address, security at Nassau Coliseum was significantly increased. Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies collaborated to ensure the Prime Minister's safety, with extensive screening processes and heightened security measures in place.
PM Modi’s three-day visit to the US includes participation in the Quad Summit, alongside leaders from the US, Australia, and Japan. The summit will focus on regional security and development goals in the Indo-Pacific.
