A horrific incident has shaken the Sarojini Naidu Medical College in Agra. A junior doctor, entrusted with the care of young patients, stands accused of a despicable crime - the rape of an eleven-year-old girl admitted to the pediatric department.
Late Tuesday night, while on duty, the doctor allegedly took advantage of his position. The young girl, seeking medical attention, was reportedly lured into a private examination under false pretenses. This act of trust was violently betrayed, with the doctor accused of sexually assaulting the child.
Following the incident, the college took swift action. The accused doctor was immediately suspended by the principal, Dr. Prashant Kumar. Three separate committees – disciplinary, departmental, and internal – were established to investigate the allegations thoroughly.
Local authorities responded promptly. The Agra Assistant Commissioner of Police, Anand Kumar Pandey, confirmed an FIR (First Information Report) was registered at Madan Mohan Gate police station. The accused, identified as 28-year-old Dilshad Hussain, was arrested and sent to jail by court order.
The FIR reportedly details charges under relevant sections of the BNS (Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita) and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. These include rape by a staff member, rape of a minor below 12, aggravated penetrative sexual assault, attempt at rape, and aggravated penetrative assault.
The young victim underwent medical tests to gather evidence for the case. Authorities are determined to ensure a thorough investigation and bring justice to the survivor.
The heinous act has sparked outrage. The girl's family, understandably distraught, demanded strict action against the accused. Notably, the Junior Resident Doctors’ Association has expressed support for the survivor, placing their faith in the police and judiciary to deliver a fair verdict.
This incident highlights the critical need for robust safety measures in medical institutions, particularly those catering to children. The investigation's outcome will be closely watched, sending a strong message of zero tolerance for such atrocities.
